Unlike many cenotes along the main Tulum-Cancun highway, this one on the road to Coba offers a quieter, more local experience—without sacrificing comfort or amenities.

One of the standout features of Cenote Santa Cruz is its circular shape with a small island in the center. This natural formation allows you to float all the way around the center island. Around the island there are shallower areas that you can walk or float connecting several larger and deeper pools for swimming and jumping. The unique form makes Santa Cruz one of the more fun and interactive cenotes in the area.

The entrance fee at Cenote Santa Cruz is affordable compared to many cenotes near Tulum, especially considering the amenities included.
- General Admission: 300 MXN

Your entrance fee includes access to the cenote, parking, life jackets, flotation belts, and on-site facilities like bathrooms and changing rooms.

Cenote Santa Cruz is well-equipped, making it a great option if you want comfort without large crowds. It’s a great setup whether you want to relax in the shade or spend the day in the water.

Rules & regulations
There are some rules to help protect the cenote and environment. In order to swim in the cenote you must rinse off in the shower. There are no lotions, perfumes, or sunscreens allowed in the cenote to protect the water.
It appeared that officially there is no outside food and drinks are allowed. However, in practice, they tend to be fairly lenient with small items, we were permitted to bring in our soda and water. That said, there is a restaurant and snack bar on-site, so you won’t go hungry if you prefer to purchase food or drinks there and support the small operation.
Crowds & Atmosphere
One of the biggest advantages of Cenote Santa Cruz is how uncrowded it feels compared to more popular cenotes along the main highway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. After visiting many cenotes in the area this is the least crowded and most worthwhile. It is very quiet and peaceful so if you’re trying to avoid the crowds, this cenote is a great choice.
Even during busier travel seasons, it tends to have:

How to Get to Cenote Santa Cruz from Tulum
Cenote Santa Cruz is located just outside of Tulum, making it an easy addition to your itinerary. From Tulum take the road to Coba. You will pass several cenotes before coming up to Cenote Santa Cruz on the left. There is a large painted sign on the wall outside. Drive into the walled area as it is located back from the main road.
When you pull in there is a guard station and church in a yard looking rather abandoned. Do not turn back, I promise you are not trespassing! Keep driving on the dirt road for about 1.5 km. There are several small painted signs along the way but are easy to miss. At the end of the dirt road you will pull into a parking lot with an entrance and ticket booth. You have arrived at the BEST cenote park!
Best ways to get there:
• Rental car: The easiest and most flexible option, especially if you’re planning to visit multiple cenotes in one day
• Taxi or Eiby: Readily available in Tulum, but confirm pricing ahead of time. Eiby is similar to Uber and tells you the pricing up front in the app.
• Bike: Possible if you’re staying nearby and comfortable riding longer distances or on an e-bike or scooter also available for rent in town
